Hollow Oak

Hollow Oak is just off the A590 at the Haverthwaite cross roads and boasts links with famous family's throughout its long history from Iron Masters to one of a group of writing siters most of who moved to Ontario Canada. Their surname - Strickland.
 
The six sisters were called Elizabeth, Agnes, Margaret, Sarah, Catherine and Susanna. Sarah was the none literary one of the family for she did not write or paint and she lived for some time at Hollow Oak with her husband Rev Cannon Gwillym. It is believed but not proven that the sisters had family connections with Sizergh Castle.
