The Stortford Railway is a seven and a quarter inch gauge line in a back garden in Bishop's Stortford, Herts., England. There are two battery-electric locomotives and a County Donegal- style railcar on the railway. The railway demonstrates how it is possible to create a real narrow-gauge railway without too much expense in a domestic setting.

The 7 1/4 Guage Society was founded in 1973 by a group of mutually interested people with aims rather different to that of a Model Engineering Society of the usual kind. The main aim is to act as a communication channel between the growing number of people working in this gauge.
