Response from Parish Council on Stribers Farm

Haverthwaite Parish Council

Minutes of the Extraordinary Parish and Public Meeting

Following the receipt of a letter dated 11 March 2008 from Hyder Consulting (UK) Ltd, of St Melions, Cardiff, saying that they were anticipating submitting a planning application to erect 6 wind turbines at Ellerside, above Stribers Farm, Haverthwaite, it was decided to call a Council and Public Meeting to ascertain the local feeling towards this proposal. Haverthwaite Parish Council - News

Haverthwaite Parish Council met in Leven Valley School to hear Dr. Jo Cleary (a Haverthwaite resident) give a short powerpoint presentation on the problems caused by speeding traffic through the village and possible remedies. A trial scheme is being carried out in Clifton, on the A6 road near Penrith, where the white road lines have been removed, village gateway signs, parking bays and coloured road/footpath edges have all been carried out. Monitoring is taking place and Dr. Cleary is in consultation with Cumbria C.C. and hopes to give feedback and offer suggestions to the Parish Council in the near future.
The Clerk reported that, following negotiations with the Highways Agency and Amey Mouchel, finance has now been made available to construct a bus layby on the A590, hopefully opposite the Railway Station, before the financial year end. Then the Parish Council will be able to have a bus shelter constructed as soon as possible.
The date of next meeting is November 12th.

Under the Freedom of Information Act, from the 1st January 2005, anyone will be able to ask for a copy of the information held on them by the Parish Council; applications should be made to the Parish Clerk, Mr K Whiteside, Stonecroft, Backbarrow. A small fee will be charged for each application.
