Todmorden Parish Choir visit.

I am delighted to say that the choir of my old parish, St Mary's Todmorden, have decided to come to the Lakes for their annual trip, on Saturday 5th July. After spending some time at Bowness they will come to Haverthwaite for about 4.0 pm, and will sing Evensong in St Anne's at 5.0 pm., after which they will quench their thirst locally before returning home.

We have offered to provide them with a buffet tea at 4.0 pm, and any contributions towards the tea will be gratefully received. Both before and after the service there will be the chance to meet some of my old parishioners [I shall get into trouble for calling them that, but you know what I mean].

Naturally I hope that a good number will be able to attend the service as well, which I am hoping will be a really good occasion.

The Deanery Mission

Elsewhere this month in the Parish magazine you will find some details of the deanery mission. I would like to highlight one or two key events for us to attend, together with our friends who may be on the fringes of the church.

Thursday 10th July, 7.30 pm.
"Hot potatoes" at Grange Victoria Hall.
Hot potatoes will be served – and hot potatoes in the form of challenging questions can be put to Bishop James, who will be ready to give some answers. A good opportunity to involve our sceptical friends!

Friday 11th July, from about 8.30 pm.
Bishop James will be in the Angler's Arms for informal chat over a drink and sandwich. Come along and introduce him to a friend.

Saturday 12th July, 1.0 – 4.0 pm.
Family Fun Day at Grange Primary School – obviously, the key event to urge those with children or grandchildren to attend.

Sunday 13th July, 3.0 pm.
Praise on the Park at Cartmel Racecourse Grandstand, with Bishop James. Come and be part of a really big event.

The opportunities are all there – please do your best to use them!
