| The group are in celebratory mood following the very successful fair, opened by Lord Cavendish, which enabled £30,000 to be presented to the Hospice. The attractions at the Fair were expanded to include a range of games for children, along with a variety of attractions and stalls, a welcome return of the Bird of Prey, the Beekeepers and Fifi the Flea. Regrettably this was her last appearance at the Fair for she is retiring to take up a post at Sorbonne University in Paris. A farewell Tea Party with a special cake was attended by members of her Fan Club prior to her departure in a hot air balloon. Visitors to the fair were welcomed by music from a Dutch organ and by performances on the field by ‘Live Steam' a folk group from the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Railway. The Support Group Committee thanks everyone who supported the event and gave so generously. |
